Mara Sisters Rivalry Labelled False & Mischievous

A Claim by Raw Fiji News posted on this Blog yesterday about ill-feelings between the Mara sisters, Adi Ateca Ganilau (above with husband Ratu Epeli Ganilau) and Adi Koila Nailatikau, (above left) has been labelled as false by someone who should know.

Read retired Colonel Sakiusa Raivoce's (left) comments on yesterday's postings.

"The claim in an item on Raw Fiji News blog site of ill-feelings between sisters, First Lady Adi Koila Nailatikau and Adi Ateca Ganilau, is false based on speculation and sensationalism, not a fact and should never have been published as news. What is more, the intent and purpose of the false claim is to divide the good people of Lau which is seditious.

The fact is that Adi Ateca and Adi Koila are on the best of terms and are in touch with each other on a regular basis as sisters. The fact is that Adi Koila, by virtue of her position as wife of the President of Fiji did not seek not has sought to contest the position of Chairman of the Lau Provincial Council. The fact is that Adi Ateca has absolutely no ill-feelings about her sister being the Chairwoman of the Yatu Lau private business company.

Both sisters are dedicated to the economic progress of the people of Lau and the business company is one way to accomplish it. The fact is that Ratu Epeli Ganilau, husband of Adi Ateca, is not struggling to make a living, and the statement that he is, not supported by facts, is defamation of character and libelous."
