Adi Ateca Ganilau Replaces Brother as Chair of Lau Provincial Council

Sisters - in - arms as Adi Ateca Ganilau (right above) and Adi Koila Nailatikau in support of each other

Adi Ateca Ganilau is the new Chair of the Lau Provincial Council and she won by a majority of 17 votes over Filipe Bole who obtained 15 votes while Roko Josefa Delainauluvatu obtained 6 votes.

Contrary to media reports, Adi Koila had no intention to stand as a contender and was there supporting her sister as all the Mara sisters at the Nadi meeting.

Bloggers have also reported that the regime's Illegal Minister of Education, Filipe Bole, could not muster enough support to beat Adi Ateca. In fact his speech to the meeting was reported as slow and slurring to be difficult to make out its content.

As a regime stooge, Bole was always going to struggle to beat out Adi Ateca. He was once a favourite son of the province in the days of Ratu Mara but his decision to join Dictator Bainimarama's regime has drastically diminished his standing among his peers in the province and no doubt also among professional Fijians who once regarded him as a leader and high achiever. Bole has instead chosen to join Bainimarama and become a silent supporter of the repressive policies and programme against Fijians. He has failed to even raise opposition to the corruption of the regime leader and the military's part in assaulting and terrorising innocent civilians.

History will no doubt judge him accordingly.

With Adi Ateca at the helm of the Lau Provincial Council, we can expect a firm stand against the illegal regime and its policies, in particular the illegal Charter.
