Dictator Bainimarama Likes to Think People of Lakeba Support Him

Sai's Comments:
  • Anyone who understands Fijian custom and protocol would know that what the Dictator received from the people of Lakeba is mere politeness and courtesy extended to any visitor who arrives on their shores.
  • That is all that the Dictator got - no more no less. Such etiquette can in no way be interpreted as lending support to his illegal regime and its anti-Fijian policies.
  • After all, he is the custodian of Fijian tax payers' monies, that is rightfully destined to be deployed for their development etc.. In that way, he is the people's servant, arriving to inspect how best to deal with their concerns and welfare.
  • But as we all know, the Dictator and his lackeys will always milk such niceties, pleas for forgiveness etc.. as signs of support for the illegal PM and his inflated ego. Then again, Bainimarama is so desperate he would grab any such acts as endorsing his illegal rule over the people of Lakeba and Fiji.

Fiji Village News - 14 June 2011

The people of Lakeba and members of the Vuanirewa clan have today told the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama that they support his leadership. The villagers from Lau also made a traditional presentation to Commodore Bainimarama asking for forgiveness.

Meanwhile Commodore Bainimarama spoke to chiefs and villagers in Tubou, Lakeba in the last hour and told them that he has taken away the Great Council of Chiefs because of dirty politics. He stressed that he has not undermined the chiefs in the country but there was serious concern about the high ranked chiefs playing dirty politics for their own advantage. Commodore Bainimarama asked the people in Lakeba to forget all that has happened in the last few days and the government will resolve all the differences.

The Prime Minister will leave for Oneata this afternoon.
