Fiji's Prime Minister said he wants elections to be held in Fiji in 2014 but a lot of work needs to be done and it is only realistic that there will be delays if there is continued obstruction and interference by countries like Australia and NZ.

Speaking to Fijivillage News after arriving in Fiji earlier today, Commodore Bainimarama stressed that he does not want to delay the elections but he said all the reforms have to be completed before Fiji has elections under a truly democratic system.

Commodore Bainimarama said he has been maintaining to the international community to support the government in bringing about changes that will benefit everyone in the country irrespective of their race or religion.

However he said things will take longer if support is not forthcoming.

The Prime Minister said a lot of work needs to be done and he said the government will not just relinquish power and allow to have elections with a weak foundation and under an undemocratic electoral system.

  • What reform are you talkin about ratu pig? Do you mean making sure that the new gov in 2014 to be a puppet gov. taking orders from you? or does this reform means making sure that laws will be tailor made to protect you and your group of thugs? Let the people decide what they want, you can go drown yourself in a bowl of water if you don't like their choice.
  • The International Community will not support the Illegal Government because they know very well that it is illegal and no one in his or her right state of mind will do so.(Cava qo me ra mai kovuti vata kei ira qo?)He must have thought that everyone will dance to his music, qai laurai vinaka, warai sara tikoga!!So the only solution is to have an Election so that we can go back to a Democratic Government and then the International Community will support us.
