Lackey Fiji Newspaper Editorial Congratulates Military Regime

FIJI SUN CONSOLES BAINIMARAMA AFTER CRITICISM

Radio Australia - June 5, 2010

– In Fiji, a pro-interim government newspaper has called on the country's military backed leader to ignore his critics in Australia and New Zealand.

Earlier this week, in response to criticism of his regime interim prime minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama withdrew invitations to the foreign ministers of Australia and New Zealand.

In an editorial, the pro-interim government Fijian newspaper, the Fiji Sun, says Commodore Bainimarama should ignore Australia and New Zealand.

[PIR editor’s note: The editorial says: ‘The governments of our longtime friends Australia and New Zealand continue to turn their backs on us. They continue in the misguided notion that they can tell us how our country should be run. They continue to impose their not-so-smart sanctions on people like our rugby players and netballers. They still have not realised it is not going to change anything here.]

The paper also commends him for providing a future for Fijians.
