Pensioners Don't Deserve Payment

Fiji Broadcasting Corporation - Monday, February 15, 2010

Politicians and all those who are standing against the current Government don’t deserve the pension payments for their years of service as law and policy makers.

The Military’s Landforce Commander Brigadier Pita Driti made the comment, saying these dissenters should just support the current government.

“Obviously this has to be done to give our dissidents or adversaries of the current regime. So how can you … so we need to just put down hard time policy. Enough is enough! You make up your mind, if you want join us. If you can’t beat us, join us! That’s all! If they’re against us, why should we give them their dues? (And) its something they don’t deserve.”

Government has stopped paying the pensions for many former politicians, government ministers, civil servants and senators because they have always criticized the current government and its policies.

The Human Right Council hearing is not complete yet. and Driti has shot himself in the foot again. This statement is another indication of human rights violation that this government thinks, is good governing tactics. Everytime Driti comes out and opens his mouth he shows his true value as a leader, exactly like Bainimarama.

Those pensioners were serving the country before he came and showed us how ignorant he is to the blood sweat and tears of Fiji's real servants, ones who served with honour and dedication. What is wrong with saying your mind Driti ? If a pensioner tells the government things that you are doing wrong or different, you would do well to listen to those wise words, they have done it before, they have come through harder times than you.

Driti is now doing something that no RFMF Chief of Staff has done before, so have the current soldiers and coup apologists. They have alienated themselves from the population and also reality, and have decided to make a cocoon in which they manufacture their own rules and regulations.

Shame on you Driti !!!....Shame on the whole Regime for speaking in this tone and manner to our pensioners. You should be prosecuted under your own decree for hate speeches, you do hate people who speak their minds against you, and in this case the old folks.

I just hope, you don't send your soldiers around to bash them, because some of them mght be even more resented for what you have said. Think carefully, you are not invincible.
