Your support is not needed.

These were the words of Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama to Tui Namosi and former Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL) government Assistant Minister, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua.

He said whether the Namosi paramount chief supported his Government or not, it would not have any effect on their progress towards change.

Mr Bainimarama questioned the Tui Namosi's need to publicly declare his support to Government.

"The Namosi province made their support known to me a long time ago. He was the only one left out," Mr Bainimarama said.

"His support doesn't make any difference to our plans for progress," he added.

Ratu Suliano was the Assistant Minister for Fijian Affairs when MR Bainimarama staged the 2006 military coup.

Last week he publicly revealed that he was placing his support behind the Bainimarama Government for the sake of his people and the future generation.

In the SDL government he was considered one of former Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase's close confidantes.

Mr Qarase was also the Minister for Fijian Affairs before the 2006 takeover.

The Tui Namosi voiced the province's support with his endorsement after a meeting with the 13 district chiefs.

He said it had taken him three years to break his silence.

Ratu Suliano urged the people of Namosi to forget the past and support Government's way forward. He also called on other chiefs in the country to support the Government of the day. He said the people of Fiji must work with the State to put in place its plans before the 2014 Elections.
