THE Citizens Constitutional Forum has called on Ratu Josefa Iloilo to reconsider the "purported abrogation" of Fiji's Constitution.
In a press statement, CCF chief executive officer Reverend Akuila Yabaki urged Ratu Josefa and Military Commander Voreqe Bainimarama to respect yesterday's ruling by the Fiji Court of Appeal.
"There is no need to abrogate the Constitution," said Mr Yabaki.
He pointed out that the court's ruling in the Chandrika Prasad case in 2001 "made it very clear that the Constitution can only be varied or removed through the provisions provided in the 1997 Constitution".
"Yesterday's ruling provided an opportunity for the President to reappoint an independent interim government," he said.
