Cakaudrove supports political forum

Cakaudrove supports political forum - 10/29/2008

A province yesterday declared its support for the political forum as long as interim prime minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama was genuine in his invitation.
While the aanua of Lalagavesi in Cakaudrove commended the political forum, it said it had to be genuine. General secretary to the Bose Vanua Ratu Jekesoni Yavalanavanua said the province hoped that Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama was not only showing international bodies that he could bring the political parties together to talk.
Ratu Jekesoni said it was a positive gesture if Cdre Bainimarama and his government were sincere and truthful to the people of Fiji in holding the elections as promised in March next year.
The Cakaudrove province under the leadership of paramount chief Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has always been vocally opposed to the interim government.
Ratu Jekesoni said all the province was concerned about was the promise by Cdre Bainimarama to hold election next year.
He said it was a positive sign to see the political parties and the interim government getting together to find ways to move the country forward.
“This initiative by the interim PM is most welcome but he has to be genuine in his mission to bring the political leaders together to dialogue,” said Ratu Jekesoni.
