Lawyer Rajendra Chaudhry has accused a senior official at the Prime Minister’s Office for releasing a letter intended only for Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
Mr Chaudhry accused Secretary to the PM’s office, Parmesh Chand, of releasing a letter he wrote to Cdre Bainimarama clarifying statements he had made against the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption.
He claimed the letter had been intended only for Cdre Bainimarama. He claimed that Mr Chand had leaked it to the Ministry of Information which later issued a press statement based on it.
He accused Mr Chand of having a hidden political agenda against him.
“That letter was intended only for the Prime Minister and should have stayed in his office,” said Mr Chaudhry.
“Any professional would have ensured that this was the case.
“They should do their job professionally without any bias because they are civil servants.
“They are paid by taxpayers and they should not have any personal agendas.”
Mr Chaudhry also accused Major Neumi Leweni of the Department of Information of having an agenda against him.
He called on Cdre Bainimarama to take Mr Chand and Major Leweni to task for what he claimed they had done against him.
Mr Chand and Maj Leweni declined to comment saying they will not be drawn into a verbal battle.
