Teleni, Naupoto in Military Council of 28

Three Fiji army officers who now hold senior positions in the civil service are part of the 28-member Military Council that advises interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.

Military spokesman, Land Force chief-of-staff Lieutenant Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga told fijilive.com the three are Police Commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni, Immigration director, Commander Viliame Naupoto and Justice permanent secretary, Lt Colonel Pio Tikoduadua.

The other members for the council headed by Commodore Bainimarama consist of acting Commander-Colonel Samuela Saumatua, Land Force Commander Colonel Pita Driti, Commanding Officer 3rd Battalion Fiji Infantry Regiment-Colonel Tevita Mara, Land Force chief-of-staff-Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga, Director Force Development and Strategic Planning and director of Human Resources - Colonel John Mara and chief staff operation officer-Colonel Sitiveni Qiliho.

Tikoitoga said the military council act as advisors to the PM.

"We advise him on anything and everything," he said.

"The 28 member council has always been there and in this case it is working as an advisor for Prime Minister to make sure that the H.E mandate is carried out.

"It's up to him to follow it or not."
