Sitiveni Rabuka says Chiefs should have focused on VPs appointment

Former Great Council of Chiefs Chairman, Sitiveni Rabuka has today stressed that the suspended GCC should never have gone into talking about the legality or otherwise of the interim government during its two day meeting which ended yesterday.

Rabuka who is a life member of the GCC said the council should have focused on the nomination of the Vice President and ensured that
it did not tangle itself up in the legalities of the events on and after December 5th.

Rabuka also highlighted that the GCC never questioned Ratu Jope Seniloli's appointment as Vice President after the events of 2000, although he was under investigation during that time.

Meanwhile GCC member of the Burebasaga confederacy, Ro Epeli Mataitini said they stand firm on their decision to reject Ratu Epeli Nailatikau's nomination for Vice President.

Ro Epeli said their decision is based on the resolution reached in December by the GCC.
