Namosi angry over comments against Ro Temumu

Tuesday, April 17, 2007

THE people of Namosi are angry over comments made against the paramount chief of Rewa, Ro Temumu Kepa by a small chief of the province of Namosi.

Namosi Provincial Council chairman, Ratu Romanu Matanitobua said Ratu Iferemi Buaserau has nothing to do with the province and had no authority to speak on its behalf.

Ratu Iferemi had openly criticised Ro Temumu, who is the head of the Burebasaga confederacy, for her comments against the interim Government.

''If he is from Namosi then he should keep quiet,'' Ratu Romanu said.

''Within the Province he is nothing and is not a member of any tikina council or the Provincial Council or the committee of the Provincial Council,''

He said the Council did not recognize Ratu Iferemi.

The Namosi Provincial Council is apologetic to Ro Temumu's for his comments.

Ro Teimumu, who has been outspoken about the interim regime since week's Great Council of Chiefs meeting, could not be reached for a comment.
