Nailatikau nominated for VP - Wednesday April 11, 2007

President Ratu Josefa Iloilo
Fiji’s President Ratu Josefa Iloilo has moved the name of Interim Foreign Minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau for Vice President at the Great Council of Chiefs meeting in Suva a short while ago.

Our reporter at the meeting venue said the chiefs will now consider the nomination as members of their respective confederacies.

The confederacies are Burebasaga, Kubuna and Tovata.

A formal announcement of the chiefs’ decision will be made later this afternoon.

Ratu Epeli is a former Speaker of Fiji’s Parliament and former high commissioner to London.

He is also a member of the chiefly clan of Bau Island.
